Mirroring (Isopraxis)

Today's lesson is on Mirroring.

Mirroring is being a mirror to someone you want to persuade. Mirroring is a part of Liking. People like people who are like them. What better way to be like someone than to copy their writing, body language, style.

Mirror people today. Copy their:
  • Writing style
  • Greeting
  • Colors
  • Desk cleanliness or messiness
  • Body language

In terms of writing style if you get an email that says:

    Hi John,

    ....

    Mark

Then you can mirror the style of the writing by using the same format

    Hi Mark,

    ...

    John

If they use something then you use the same style:
  • Hi
  • Hello
  • Regards
  • Name
  • No name
  • Word usage

You need to practice mirroring. Do not tell anyone what you're doing as they will feel manipulated and this technique will backfire. Also, there is a subtle difference from the annoyance of exactly copying people vs. being subtle about it.
